 Bryan Hughes 

Founder / President


Born and raised in South Philadelphia, Coach Bryan Hughes is a product of Philadelphia’s parks and recreational programs. He graduated from the first “Tennis-Specific” college program in The United States, Majoring in Recreational Leadership and Management, at Tyler Junior College in Texas.

Bryan’s 25+ years of tennis coaching includes 6 NJCAA National Tittles as an assistant coach with Tyler Junior College, as well as 6 individual Rolex National Champions. As a USTA Junior Team Tennis coach and commissioner, he orchestrated multiple state and national competitors. As a high school coach he also saw his teams capture district and state championships.

He has directed community and country club programs in Florida and Texas and started Jedi Tennis LLC, here in Philadelphia, in 2008, as well as The South Philadelphia Tennis Association in 2011.


“Technique and timing are the keys to competitive play, proper technique matched with situational repetition promote the highest percentages of success under competitive pressure. Social players should established strokes reliable enough to enjoy the levels of play, which they chose to participate. No matter what a students goals are, teach them as an individual and be sure to promote a fun atmosphere.”
